The Virtue of Thankfulness!
A Season of Gratefulness!
Scripture 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
"16 Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you."
First, rejoice always
"16 Rejoice always,"
“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
“Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” (Emphasis mine)
“You, brothers and sisters, became imitators of God’s churches in Judea, which are in Christ Jesus: You suffered from your own people the same things those churches suffered from the Jews who killed the Lord Jesus and the prophets and also drove us out” (2:14-15).
Secondly, pray without ceasing
"17pray without ceasing,"
“There is not in the world a kind of life more sweet and more delightful, than that of a continual walk with God ; those only can comprehend it, who practice and experience it.” - Nicholas Herman
Third, give thanks in all circumstances
"18 give thanks in all circumstances;"
"28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose."
"for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you."
"But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. 6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus,"
