A Mystery Revealed!

A Mystery Revealed!

Ephesians 3:1-6

For this reason I, Paul, a prisoner of Christ Jesus on behalf of you Gentiles — 2 assuming that you have heard of the stewardship of God's grace that was given to me for you, 3 how the mystery was made known to me by revelation, as I have written briefly. 4 When you read this, you can perceive my insight into the mystery of Christ, 5 which was not made known to the sons of men in other generations as it has now been revealed to his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit. 6 This mystery is that the Gentiles are fellow heirs, members of the same body, and partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel." (Ephesians 3:1-6, ESV)

5 which was not made known to the sons of men in other generations..."

6 This mystery is that the Gentiles are fellow heirs, members of the same body, and partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel.

"4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ — by grace you have been saved." (Ephesians 2:4-5, ESV)

6 This mystery is that the Gentiles are fellow heirs, members of the same body, and partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel."

LIFEGROUP NOTES Week 11 - A Mystery Revealed!

Sunday, we heard about the process of becoming a Child of God, becoming fellow heirs, members of the same body, and partak- ers of the promises of God.

To begin today’s study, let's answer the question as a group: 1. What happens when a sinful person surrenders to perfect God?’

Scripture also describes this process as being ‘grafted in’. Have you ever asked yourself what this means or how this happens? Let’s take a look at Romans 11:17-24 as Paul de- scribes this process.

1. As a group, describe the agricultural term or process, as best as you can, of tree grafting.

2. Why is Paul even talking about this in Romans? What is his point?

Understanding the process now, reread the passage as a group.

3. What is the significance of v18a?

4. In v24, Paul mentions a wild olive tree from which believers have been cut off. What is he talking about?

Impact Statement

Because we have been grafted in, we are now heirs and fellow partakers in the promise of God! The process of our being grafted is a demonstration of just how much we are loved and rich and satisfying God’s grace really is. Consider, in closing, the extent to which God pursues you and brings you to himself!
