Jesus: Our Prized Treasure
"What comes to mind when you think of God as the most important thing about yourself?- A.W. Tozer
Jesus: our prized treasure!
19“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. (Matthew 6:8-11, ESV)
8 Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For His sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith— 10 that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and may share His sufferings, becoming like Him in His death, 11 that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead." (Philippians 3:8-11, ESV)
What did you think life would be like when you trusted Jesus?
8 Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.
37 Whoever loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. 38 And whoever does not take his cross and follow Me is not worthy of Me. 39 Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. (Matthew 10:37-39, ESV)
Is your identity in Jesus strong enough to hold up to a loss of your job, or your title or position?
